If you have single eyelid, Fret not! Forget about the double eyelid surgery, single eyelids can be an extremely sensual and flattering asset for the Asian face. Learn how to open up your Oriental eyes with the right makeup and techniques.

Trim and tweeze the brows to make the eyes look wider. Avoid shaving your eyebrows: pencil-thin brows won’t look good on you, and will most probably make your eyes look more puffy.

Eyeshadow Must-Have

Brown and reddish-brown eyeshadows are a must-have for receding the eyes. Very handy, since most single eyelids tend to be slightly puffy as well.

Darker eyeshadows can make the eyes look even smaller, so go for a brown shade that’s not too dark. For this reason, avoid using black eyeshadow. To apply, trace a line across the upper eyelid, then blend upwards and outwards.

Eyeshadow Fashion

Be bold and experiment with different shades! Most of the time, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

For the trendy and adventurous, the ruby red eyeshadow is an instant head-turner. Just sweep a soft line of red across your upper eyelids only and see the magic! Skip the blending, a clean red line is what you want. Never, never apply red over the entire upper eyelid or the below the eyes.

If you have slightly puffy eyelids, don’t buy frosted or glittery kind of eyeshadows: they’ll only emphasize the puffiness!

Highlight

To create more depth, add some highlight to your brow bone. A pale-white eyeshadow can also do the trick. Dab the highlight on the area just under the arch of your eyebrow and sweep outwards.

Mascara

Apply mascara on the lower lashes first. It’s easier to apply the lower lashes then the upper lashes, rather than the other way.

Apply mascara a few times to thicken the upper lashes. Curl your lashes with a curler too. The thickened lashes will widen the eyes, and as a bonus also helps hold up the extra skin folding over the eyes.
